SNSPA researcher Raluca Iacob has reached an important milestone in her CIVICA postdoctoral fellowship, presenting the preliminary results of her research at a recent seminar hosted by Sciences Po. The presentation took place as part of the AxPo PolEconSoc seminar, a monthly academic forum organized within Sciences Po. The seminar brings together early-career and senior researchers to engage in in-depth discussions on topics related to social, political, and economic fragmentation and polarization.
Five months after the launch of her project, Raluca Iacob presented initial findings on the impact of misinformation and disinformation, particularly AI-driven disinformation, on public trust in central banks. Her research also examines how these institutions are perceived by the public, as well as the strategic communication approaches adopted in response to such challenges.
The study is based on a comparative analysis of the European Central Bank, the Banque de France, and the National Bank of Romania. It combines both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, including an online survey conducted in February 2026 in France (N=531) and Romania (N=591), as well as a series of interviews carried out between October 2025 and January 2026 with representatives of the three institutions.
The development of the project has benefited from the guidance of academic mentors, including Dr. Nicoleta Corbu (SNSPA) and Dr. Matthias Thiemann (Sciences Po), whose expertise has contributed to refining the research framework.
