CIVICA is launching a new survey to better understand how students across our alliance search for, evaluate and use information. The goal is simple: to make sure our resources truly meet your needs.
Why We’re Asking
Whether you’re writing an essay, preparing a presentation or exploring a research topic, information is at the heart of your studies. But the way students find and use information is changing. With AI tools like ChatGPT and citation generators becoming more common, it’s important to understand how students are using these technologies responsibly and effectively.
By taking part in this short survey, you’ll help us see what works well and where more support could help; from research skills and critical thinking to responsible AI use and digital literacy.

What We Hope to Learn
This is the first time CIVICA’s partner universities are using a shared survey tool to explore students’ information and research habits across countries and disciplines. The results will help us:
- Identify strengths, gaps and needs in how students find and evaluate information
- Understand how libraries, courses and digital tools can better support learning and research
- Promote ethical and responsible use of AI and online resources
- Build stronger collaboration between libraries, faculty and support services.
About the Survey
The questionnaire is designed to feel like a natural chat. Questions appear progressively and you can complete it in English, Italian or French. It also only takes a few minutes.
Why Your Voice Matters
By sharing your experience, you’ll help us create smarter, more student-centred academic environments across the CIVICA alliance. The insights we gather will help align our support and teaching with real student expectations.
