Between June 23–25, 2025, the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (SNSPA) will host the CIVICA Libraries event, organised as part of CIVICA – The European University of Social Sciences, within the framework of Work Package WP2.3.
The main objective of the meeting is to strengthen dialogue and the exchange of ideas among members of the working groups formed within this activity package, through in-person sessions focused on topics relevant to the development and inter-institutional cooperation of university libraries.
The event will bring together librarians from the following partner institutions: Sciences Po (France), Hertie School (Germany), The London School of Economics and Political Science (United Kingdom), Stockholm School of Economics (Sweden), IE University (Spain), European University Institute (Italy), and SNSPA (Romania).
Within Work Package WP2.3, the libraries of the CIVICA member universities are engaged in a range of collaborative initiatives to develop and implement a shared strategy for the CIVICA libraries. To achieve this, seven working groups have been established to carry out five key strategic objectives:
- Electronic Documentary Resources – Developing a shared portfolio of electronic resources for CIVICA libraries.
- CIVICA Audiences’ Needs, Skills and Information Literacy – Conducting ongoing analysis and monitoring of users’ information and documentation needs, their skills in identifying and accessing resources, and their training needs in the field of information literacy across CIVICA universities.
- High-Level Services – Information Literacy & Reading Lists – Creating and enhancing advanced user services by compiling comprehensive course-support bibliographies for CIVICA’s joint academic programs and organising training sessions on key topics related to information literacy.
- Open Educational Resources Approach – Open Access Publications & OERs – Promoting the use of open data and educational resources by students and faculty, and increasing the visibility of open access publications authored by researchers affiliated with CIVICA institutions.
- CIVICA Library and Community of Practices – Strengthening the CIVICA library network to foster a collaborative community grounded in inclusion, the exchange of best practices, and Erasmus+ mobility opportunities for librarians.

The CIVICA Libraries meeting represents a significant step toward consolidating a unified, innovative, and inclusive approach to academic library services within the European Higher Education Area.
