A new step forward towards the European University of the future

Remus Pricopie, the rector of the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (SNSPA), represented CIVICA at the meeting between the European Commissioner, Mariya Gabriel, and the rectors of European universities.

On 30-31 January 2023, Remus Pricopie, rector of SNSPA, represented CIVICA, the European University of Social Sciences, at the meeting of rectors of European universities. The central point in the work agenda was the meeting with the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel.

The meeting of rectors representing the 44 European universities aimed to support efforts made by European university alliances to fully exploit their potential and develop ways of structural, strategic and sustainable cooperation with direct benefits for their communities. The Rectors had the opportunity to exchange ideas on the good practices already implemented, the everyday challenges they face, and their vision for the success of the European Universities Initiative, in the light of the European Strategy for Universities.

The main conclusions that emerged from the debate sessions and the discussions in the plenary meeting of the rectors of European universities were submitted for analysis to the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel, in an official meeting, by the six reporting rectors, among whom was the rector of SNSPA, prof. Remus Pricopie.

“On behalf of the 44 European universities, I conveyed to the Commissioner the key messages established during the discussions held at the rectors’ meeting. I want to thank the Commissioner for the support that I understand the Commission can provide us to make the activity of European universities more efficient, in particular concerning the development of legal status for European university alliances, which will facilitate more in-depth transnational cooperation on long term, to obtain a common European diploma”, says Remus Pricopie, rector of SNSPA.

“European Universities are drivers of change. Stronger cooperation among them: a strategic investment!” tweeted the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel.
